Causes of Bacterial Vaginitis

The cause of Bacterial Vaginitis can be stated in one word: imbalance.
Now, having said that, let’s expand on that some. BV is triggered by the imbalance of organisms which live naturally in your vagina. These organisms really are various forms of bacteria. You’re probably trained to think of bacteria as the bad guys.
In reality though your body is filled with all sorts of bacteria, many of which are actually “good” bacteria, essential for your good health. One of the reasons┬áhealth experts urge people to eat yogurt is to help to replenish your body’s natural population of “good” bacteria. Yogurt contains live culture — bacteria by any other name — that helps to add to that army of good bacteria marching around your system.
Approximately 95 percent of the bacteria within your vagina are of the good variety, specifically lactobacillus. Their present helps to maintain the natural pH levels which prevent the bad bacteria — such as gardenrella– from overgrowing and overtaking your vagina.
Bacterial vaginosis is not caused by using bedding belonging to someone who has the disorder or by using the toilet seat that has been used by someone with BV. And it simply cannot be transferred through the water of a swimming pool or even by touching objects around you.
